2013-  Agronomy Club Poster Abstract

The past year, the University of Missouri Agronomy Club has worked with the Columbia Master Gardeners and the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Columbia, MO. We teamed up with a common goal of educating the public, specifically younger generations, the importance of plant production. Over the span of several months, the Mizzou Agronomy Club assisted in building a garden area at the hospital so that future patients may have a place to visit and better understand the importance of plants. The program involved working with the local boy scout and girl scout troops to help them understand the importance of plant production as well as the inputs needed for plant growth. The children in attendance had the opportunity to get their hands dirty while mixing soil and taking home some seedlings of their own. This was an educational experience for the troop members as they learned how a plant grows as well as how to care for growing plants.
