Session Description: Sustainable agricultural intensification demands equal attention to both sustainability and intensification. Development and use of ecologically, economically and socially efficient technologies is critical to optimize the supply and demand sides of the food value chain that involves many actors and activities from production in the field to consumption at home. This session will address the various issues and challenges that influence the efficiency of agricultural value chain: on the supply side with agricultural intensification consistent with enhanced resource base and ecosystem services and improved environment; and on the demand side with population growth, food consumption patterns, food wastage.
