Abstract:
Here we show how proximal soil sensing and other tools can be used in the mapping of properties of the soil profile wall. The mapping of various soil properties can assist in the delineation of soil horizon boundaries. Such mapping is part of the evolving in situ digital morphometrics that may enhance our pedological understanding. The digital enrichment of the pedologists toolbox has the potential to complement existing description and analytical methods. It may yield new insights in soil horizonation, and how soils form and could be classified.
