Abstract:
Land rolling is an agricultural practice that has recently become a popular soil-finishing practice in row crop production. It is a simple process; large drums are pulled across the field in the spring, smoothening the seed bed. It is becoming a more and more popular practice throughout the Midwest. As claims are made that rolling improves yields as well as making the field smoother for more accurate herbicide application and quicker harvest; all without changing the physical properties of the soil.
