Abstract:
Turflon® Ester Ultra specialty herbicide is seed oil based formulation of triclopyr that was introduced by Dow AgroSciences to the turf market in 2011-2012 as a replacement product for Turflon Ester. Dow AgroSciences initially showed equivalent to better efficacy and handling of this formulation as compared to the older Turflon Ester product.  Since that time, Dow AgroSciences has conducted research further research over wider conditions to test and demonstrate effectiveness of this new formulation. In 2012, Turflon Ester Ultra was applied at seven locations across the northern United States. When applied at 1 pint/A in combination with Trimec Classic or at 2 pints/A the respective control was 91% and 73% for dandelion (TAROF), 100% for white clover (TRFRE) and 98% and 93% for ground ivy (GLEHE) at 6 weeks after the application. In Pennsylvania, 100% and 93% control of narrow leaf plantain (PLALA) was achieved with these applications while 100% control of broadleaf plantain (PLAMA) occurred in Wisconsin at 6 weeks after application. Research conducted in California confirmed the suppression bermudagrass (CYNDA) growth with Turflon Ester Ultra. In Pennsylvania, when Turflon Ester Ultra was applied at 1 and 2 pints/A to wild violet (VIOAR) 78% and 92% respective control occurred at 5 weeks after treatment.  These studies further confirm that Turflon Ester Ultra has strong performance in many turf applications.
