Abstract:
Application of poultry litter as a fertilizer source is a common practice in agriculture production. However, potential water quality concerns as a result of over application of poultry litter has risen as a major environmental issue in states with substantial poultry production. Fundamental to the management of poultry litter asa fertilizer is knowing the concentration of nutrients (especially N) the litter contains. A study was conducted to examine the impact of poultry house management on the concentration of nutrients in the litter produced. Poultry litter samples were collected from poultry house facilities across the state of Alabama as a part of this study. The results of the study will be discussed.
