394 Symposium--New Technologies for Soil Scientists in the 21st Century

SSSA Division: Consulting Soil Scientists
This symposium will focus on new approaches, tools, and testing protocols to better characterize soils and soil profile descriptions.  Specific topics would include: Recent innovations in x-ray flourescence (XRF); advances in cone penetration test (CPT) coupled with other onboard sensors and GIS to look at soils in 3D mode; new alterntaives to soil chemical analysis; use of tablet or smart phone apps to assist with field data collection/distribution, education, etc.; eddy covariance; innovations in geostatistics and mapping; and pedologic models.

Approved for 2.0 SW CEUs.
