Keywords: biogeochemistry, microbial ecology, omics and proteomics

Session Description: This symposium will address empirical and/or modeling studies that integrate findings from omics application to soil biogeochemistry. High-resolution ecosystem models require sophisticated representation of soil microbial ecology to enhance predictive ability in response to disturbances in soil. Geochemical measurements are useful to inform process representation in models and biomolecular evidence of microbial functioning is essential. Applications of omics approach generate information on soil microbial community structure and genetic potential, for example in C, N, P cycles.
