Format: Poster Topical Session
Keywords: fire, land use change and soil ecosystem
Session Description:
Fire is a major concern in many regions where past and recent land management activities have modified the natural regime, leading to a higher frequency and severity of burns. Further increases in area burned, and in some cases fire severity, is expected as a consequence of climate and land use changes. Soil, and the soil ecosystem, can be strongly affected by fire. The magnitude of soil perturbation, however, depends on many factors and fire effects can differ strongly over short, medium or long timescales. This session aims to present on all fire-related studies on the soil system. This session is cosponsored by the Soil System Sciences division of the European Geosciences Union.
