Abstract:
Multiple soil management options exist for remediating and restoring contaminated soils. These options must be acceptable from both a public and a regulatory perspective. Additionally, the management options must be effective at remediating the soil. This presentation provides a brief summary of management option limitations for Pb and PAH contaminated soils encoutered in two different research projects. These limitations include contaminant-based limitations, including bioavailability and soil solution, which may need to be considered in other similar remediation sites. Additionally, public and regulatory perspectives gathered through surveys about soil management options are included to generate discussion about broader acceptance for soil remediation.
