Abstract:
Soil Taxonomy and the Keys to Soil Taxonomy are the primary soil classification documents in use in the United States. These documents published by the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) are updated on a regular basis through the National Cooperative Soil Survey (NCSS) as knowledge of soils expands and need for additional taxa arise with which to identify important properties and pedogenic processes. This poster will update the status of proposed and approved amendments to Soil Taxonomy to date since the publication of the 12th Keys to Soil Taxonomy in 2014.  The next scheduled printing of the Keys to Soil Taxonomy is planned for 2018 to correspond to the World Congress of Soil Science Meeting in Brazil.  The Second Edition of Soil Taxonomy was published in 1999.  The third printing is tentatively scheduled for 2022, again to correspond with the World Congress of Soil Science Meeting whose location is not yet determined.

(This abstract to be fleshed out more fully and finalized after the NCSS Regional meeting in 2016 at which additional proposals and amendments are being considered and/or finalized.)
