What Our Organic Garden Taught Us about the Challenges of Organic Regulations.

The USDA National Organic Program restricts the use of many products commonly used in modern agricultural production, including numerous fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides. While the goal of these restrictions is putatively to increase the sustainability of agricultural production, we will address examples of how the regulations sometimes run counter to sustainability concerns, with implications for home gardening and commercial agricultural production. This video presentation will draw from personal stories from our more than 80 years of cumulative experience with organic gardening in many parts of the world, and more than 35 years of organic farming research experience in the U.S.
