Abstract:
With a growing demand and requirement for water quality improvements across the country, the nutrient management planning landscape is evolving from a voluntary best management practice to that of a regulatory requirement enforceable by local, state, and federal agencies.  Additionally, 3rd party lawsuits are being used as a tool to set judicial precedents that have national implications.  This session will be comprised of 2 panel discussions:

1. Where we are today with different regulatory approaches around the country, as well as an overview of the current precedent setting legal cases

2. Where are we going in the future with nutrient management laws and regulations, and what opportunities exist for researchers, agronomists, and farmers.
