Abstract:
Soil Systems can be readily expressed as block diagrams, cross-section graphics and other forms and combined with estimated or quantitative soil data to capture and communicate soil relationships across landscapes.  These formats and applications can distill potentially confusing or voluminous technical information into readily understood content that is meaningful to diverse audiences.  This empowerment has been well received by users of soils information.  Examples from the Great Plains will be presented that included National Cash Crop Commodity Index (NCCPI), Septic System Suitability, Ecological Sites, and others.
