Abstract:
Comments here focus on smallholders, including the poor and vulnerable, even in remote areas. Positive impacts across a range of technologies are within reach. Inter alia: 1) Design focus has to be for and with the real smallholder (not the progressive and not only men). 2) Delivery mechanisms have to stretch to the last mile or even the last 20 meters. 3) Awareness building and demand creation need to be planned from Day 1 and, 4) and Exit Strategy as a concept should become irrelevant as businesses, not assistance should spur the scaling process.
