Title: Novel Approaches to Quantify and Combat Soil Degradation

Session Description: Soil degradation threatens food supplies and public health. Issues such as soil erosion, contamination of soils, and loss of soil organic matter lead to loss of nutrients, exposure to a variety of chemicals, loss of soil structure, release of greenhouse gases, and many other problems. It is important for us to develop new ways to manage soils in a sustainable fashion. This session welcomes research on ways to quantify and reverse negative impacts of management on soil health.
