Format: Oral Symposium
Keywords: Land Surface Models

Session Description: Land surface models generate hydrological boundary conditions using limited soil and plant databases for many large-scale simulations using climate models, earth system models, etc. They integrate biological, hydrological, and physical processes across the soil-plant-atmosphere continuum. These models simulate processes related to the energy, water, and carbon cycles and their interactions while operating over relatively large spatial domains with short temporal scales. Soil science has contributed significantly to these models and should continue to play a role in LSM development.
