Session Description: At the moment, soil mapping is undergoing a revolution due to technology improvement and the introduction of predictive digital soil mapping (DSM). DSM is a broad class of soil map production methods that capitalize on the availability of ancillary environmental predictive variables to generate maps of soil variables using a limited number of soil data. DSM of forest soils is limited by the inherently high variability of soil properties, the low density of available soil pit information, and the challenges in using the imagery that is available.  The symposium will be an opportunity to discuss advances, success stories, methodologies and ways to make coherent the different efforts taking place in different regions (jurisdictions) and at different scales.
