Rationale

Decreasing the maturity of corn could reduce risk to yield loss from heat and drought.

Objectives

This study was conducted to determine whether early maturing corn hybrids could compete with late maturing corn hybrids in the Mississippi Blackland Prairie.

Methods

The effects of hybrid maturity on grain yield in corn [Zea mays L.] were investigated in Starkville, and Brooksville, MS with Leeper silty clay loam and Okolona silty clay soils respectively.
