Abstract:
In many studies, there is a need for simultaneous analysis of multiple soil enzyme activities within a limited timeframe following collection of a relatively small quantity of soil samples. Such needs could be fulfilled by microplate format enzyme assays. However, there are some challenges and inconsistency employed in these assays; which were largely owe to the complex nature of the soil system and sometimes variations in assay approaches from study to study. Comparison and standardization of methods and assay conditions are of paramount importance to support valid and meaningful data comparison and interpretation, especially when engaging evaluations across systems and studies. This presentation will provide a comprehensive overview of commonly used assay methods with the focus on microplate format assays.
