Abstract:
Plant leaf number and specific leaf area (SLA) can be affected by different factors, including grazing management. The objective of this study was to evaluate and compare the number of leaves and SLA of different leaf categories (expanding leaves -EL; younger expanded leaf -YL; and mature leaf - ML) in Mulato II brachiagrass pastures maintained at three canopy heights (10, 25, and 40 cm) and receiving two N rates (50 and 250 kg N ha–1 yr–1) during two experimental years. Leaf number was affected only for canopy height.
