Abstract:
Soils in the Wisconsin Central Sand Plains are sandy and have low soil carbon concentrations. Most of the soils are Psamments and Arenic Alfisols. In this study, high-resolution instruments (e.g. FT-IR, XRF, XRD, SEM-EDS) were used to study soil carbon in three pedons. Soil carbon was correlated with total elements and minerals in soils under three different land use systems (irrigated agriculture, forest, grassland) and with depth.
