Abstract:
American Society of Agronomy 2017 Annual Meeting Presentation Abstract Submission

Title: USDA-NRCS Integrated Erosion Modelling Tool (IET) A web served, geospatial, farm field-level natural resource management alternatives analysis tool for estimating wind and water erosion, soil and air quality trends and energy use.
NRCS field level conservation planning utilizes NRCS approved tools and models to work with agricultural producers to create and evaluate sustainable alternative approaches to address natural resource concerns on working landscapes.
The Integrated Erosion Tool (IET) integrates the information and data entry in a single interface for utilization by the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation version 2 (RUSLE2) and Wind Erosion Prediction System (WEPS). Within the next year, plans are to further integrate the Water Erosion Prediction Project (WEPP) model.
When using IET, the NRCS Conservation Planner is enabled to adjust editable IET parameters and model various scenarios to include benchmark, alternative and planned scenarios. IET has a digital map backdrop, providing planners with geolocation and integration with NRCS reference soils and Land Management Operations databases.
IET is being initially deployed as an ESRI ArcMap plug-in. The IET is being integrated into the new, internal NRCS Conservation Desktop and mobile operating environments. Future plans are to develop a user friendly Stewardship Management Application (SMA) for model stewards, and to deploy the NRCS Conservation Resources web-services utilized by IET in a proposed NRCS Application Programming Interface Gateway for access by outside entities.
