365 Nutrient Source Control at the Field, Farm and Watershed Scales (includes student competition)
Oral Session
ASA Section: Environmental QualityBest Management Practices (BMPs) are employed in the US and elsewhere in the world to reduce Non-point source pollution and improve water quality. Non-point source pollution sources include urban stormwater, diffuse agricultural runoff from pastures and row crops, concentrated agricultural wastes from feedlots, etc. This session will focus on the state of the research regarding nutrient source (e.g., N and P) control on a field, farm and watershed scales in the US (e.g., Florida, Mississippi, Illinois, etc.) and elsewhere. The impact and factors impacting success of BMPs on reducing non-point source pollution, improving water quality will be explored.
