247 Symposium--How Is Plant Breeding Evolving with Rapidly Emerging Data Sciences?
Oral Session
ASA Section: Biometry and Statistical ComputingThe key goals in the current era are no different from the pre-big data era. For example, increasing genetic gain, developing biotic and abiotic resistant cultivars and superior hybrids. But, plant breeders and geneticists now have access to cutting-edge technologies unavailable in the past. In this symposium, we will hear from experts about the impact of big data, high-throughput genotyping and phenotyping, and new algorithms on various aspects of plant breeding. The speakers will also share their thoughts on the future of data sciences in plant breeding and skill sets important for students and early career researchers.
