225 Symposium--Genome Editing Technologies for Crop Improvement

Oral Session
C07 Genomics, Molecular Genetics and Biotechnology
Genome editing technologies are new generation of genetic engineering technologies which deals with insertion, deletion or replacement of DNA in the genome of a living organism using engineered nucleases, or "molecular scissors." These nucleases are expected to create site-specific double-strand breaks at desired locations in the genome. The induced double-strand breaks are repaired through nonhomologous end-joining or homologous recombination, resulting in targeted mutations ('edits'). This symposium will have both invited and contributed presentation in this emerging area of biotechnology that is expected to accelerate crop improvement in near future.
