Title: Evapotranspiration Measurement and Modeling Oral (includes student competition)

Organizers: Ray G. Anderson and Nithya Rajan
Lead Community Sponsor: Evapotranspiration Measurement and Modeling Community
Community Cosponsor:
Format: Oral Topical Session
Keywords: Evapotranspiration, Methods, Modeling and Observation

Session Description: Evapotranspiration (ET) is an important component for the hydrological cycle and crop production. From a single leaf to a regional scale, crop ET estimates provide critical information for research, extension, and farming.  Common measurements include lysimeters, water balance, Penman-Monteith methods, meteorological gradient methods, sap flow and soil moisture sensing, and eddy covariance.  This session will focus not only on advances in ET measurements, but also advances in areas of crop and soil water process modeling, satellite-based modeling, land surface interaction, and decision support systems.
