Keywords: humic products, manure odor, soil health and yield enhancement

Session Description: Commercial humic products are a small but growing market.  Some evidence suggests their application to production fields can lead to improved crop growth and soil conditions, but much more evidence is needed across the wide ranges of crop and soil types and management practices that typify U.S. agriculture. This session includes speakers from universities, USDA-ARS, and industry who will present their studies into the effects of commercial humic products on: (1) crops, including potato, sorghum, and blueberry; (2) soil properties, including fragipan degradation and physical and microbial parameters commonly used for soil health assessment; and (3)  abatement of manure odor emissions.  This session intends to illustrate the growing body of evidence for humic product efficacy in field conditions and under rigorous experimental conditions.
