Abstract:
The potential benefits of gypsum applications have been amply reported in the scientific literature. Such reports include gypsum as a source of calcium and sulfur, as a source of electrolytes to remediate soils high in sodium and magnesium, to reduce soil crust and soil erosion, and as a way to alleviate the detrimental effects of high soluble aluminum levels found in the subsoil of some soil series. The objective of this paper is to discuss results of some tests to evaluate the potential benefits of FGD-gypsum applications under Arkansas conditions.
