Session Description: As Vermeulen and Campbell (2015) point out, science is often one among many influences on policy and action and is "not given privilege on account of being more 'objective' or 'factual'". Yet as agricultural scientists working with agronomy, crops and soils, we put great stock in research and objective, science-based decision making and expect others to use our findings.  The objective of this symposium is to explore opportunities for reducing the time from innovation to impact with smallholders.
