Session Description: This symposium will provide an overview of how current perennial crop options can be integrated into agricultural landscapes to support ecological intensification. Speakers will summarize the technological advancements in breeding and genetics that have accelerated perennial crop development. The symposium will also describe efforts to identify solutions to unique agronomic challenges associated with perennial grain crops and discuss their ecological implications. Lastly, this symposium will discuss the policy implications of introducing new perennial crops into a global agricultural marketplace and its impacts on ecological intensification.
