Session Description: The impact of climate change on agricultural productivity is exacerbated by soil degradation, threatening food security and livelihoods of smallholders. Soil health restoring agronomic practices have the potential to improve soil fertility and water availability, improving productivity and stability. However, adoption of these key practices by smallholders remains low due to socioeconomic limitations and lack of institutional support. In this session, we will explore the potential of agronomic practices that improve soil health and water availability to increase productivity and climate resilience of smallholders. We will also discuss approaches and tools to take soil health management for smallholders to scale.
