Format: Oral Topical Session
Keywords: Arctic, Carbon, Climate Change and Permafrost

Session Description: High-latitude regions are experiencing many significant changes: increase in average temperature, reduction in sea ice, thawing of permafrost soils, shortened period and area of snow cover, and others. These emerging changes can have broad influences on social and ecological systems beyond the local communities. This session aimed to highlight recent research progresses in understanding all aspects of soils in Arctic. Example topics include but are not limited to: soil chemistry (e.g., carbon cycles in tundra soils, methane emission); soil physics (e.g., Arctic coastal soil erosion); soil biology (soil microbial community dynamics in Arctic).
