Session Description: Long term sustainability of agriculture is in jeopardy resulting from increasing climate variability and change, inefficient resource use, environmental pollution, and increasing demand for healthy food. To strengthen national research, a USA wide research network including its neighboring countries of Mexico and Canada is needed.  We propose to leverage the AgMIP to address the threats that our national food and feed system are facing. The paper in this session will address specific aspects of modeling long-term interactions between soil carbon, water and nitrogen and their feedbacks to yield and long-term environmental outcomes to build resilient cropping systems in North America.
