Title: Symposium--Optimizing Efficiency with Sensors for Irrigation Scheduling and Water Management

Organizer: Davie Mayeso Kadyampakeni
Moderator: Pete W. Jacoby
Lead Community Sponsor: Sensor-based Water Management Community
Cosponsor:
Community Cosponsor: Crop Irrigation Strategies and Management Community
Format: Oral Symposium
Keywords: Irrigation scheduling and Water management

Session Description: Use of sensors in water management has increased production efficiency in irrigated cropping systems. Understanding and applying such tools as sensors enhances profitability of crop enterprises and helps farmers reduce environmental pollution through reduced nutrient leaching and also optimal water use in agricultural systems. This symposium will bring together scientists and industry to discuss advances and pitfalls in emerging sensor technologies in the 21st century.
