Format: Oral Symposium
Keywords: Genetic Gain, genome editing, precision phenotyping and whole genome selection

Session Description: Maximizing the rate of genetic gain in plant breeding is critical for development of competitive commercial products. Improvement of crop performance, yield and other key traits enable effectiveness of plant breeding. Additionally, the opportunity to leverage multiple enabling technologies including molecular based systems, genomic prediction and estimation set building, whole genome selection methodology, genome editing, haploid line development, and precision phenotyping can provide plant breeders opportunities to maximize genetic gain and increase the accuracy of selection. Experiences from both public and private sector plant breeding will be explored to demonstrate the current state of the science.
