Format: Oral Symposium
Keywords: disturbance, soil management, spatial and temporal scales and urban environmental conditions

Session Description: Research has shown that the characteristics of urban soils can vary widely, making it difficult to define or describe a typical urban€ soil. Urban soils vary depending on their history of disturbance, management regime, and exposure to urban environmental conditions.  However, when a significant proportion of the land area has been impacted by urban development, natural soil forming factors can still play a role. This session will address the importance of anthropogenic vs. natural soil forming factors in determining the spatial and temporal variation of urban soil characteristics at local, regional, and global scales.
