Session Description: Genomic Selection is an emerging tool for plant breeding applications and has shown to be more efficient than pedigree and phenotype based selection methods. The efficiency of the different selection methods can be measured (in the long term) by assessing the genetic gains of the derived populations. In consequence, increasing the accuracy of the adopted selection methods is one important research topic. This will assist breeders to perform more accurate selections of the parental lines to be used in subsequent improvement cycles or to advance lines in the breeding pipeline.
