Session Description: This cross-divisional symposium is dedicated to honoring Larry Wilding’s unique and impressive contributions to pedology, mineralogy, soil science, and the related sciences. Larry’s efforts lead to advancements in soil genesis and classification, micromorphology, application of phytoliths, aquic conditions, carbonates, and paleosols. His teaching, research and mentorship lead others to reach out and investigate Lunar and Martian soils, subaqueous soils, and the deeper regolith within the critical zone. The focus of this symposium will be on the advancements in soil science, and science as whole, that Larry’s work lead to.
