Session Description: In multiple surveys of organic producers, weed management is cited as one of the greatest constraints in organic production. This symposium will convene experts from around the world to address the latest innovations to manage weed populations in organic grain and vegetable systems, including designing ecological weed management systems, cover-crop-based and reduced tillage organic systems, and mechanical innovations, including new implements and Robotic Weeders. Lessons from these systems also can be applied to conventional systems, in light of increasing herbicide resistance threatening the long-term viability of conventional farming.
