Session Description: Agricultural production for increased food security under a changing global climate will require more fresh water, reactive chemicals, and energy. Conventional agricultural intensification to meet the food security goal has proven to be detrimental to soil health. Maintaining a healthy and productive soil is the foundation of climate-smart agriculture. Management practices (no-till, copping diversity with cover crops, precision fertilization and irrigation, amendments) is expected to maintain and/or improve soil health with enhanced agroecosystem services. This cross-divisions session is focused on multi-disciplinary fields address the challenges and opportunities to emphasize the connection among healthy soils, healthy food, and healthy people.
