Session Description: Communicating science to non-scientific audiences requires a broad skill set. Effective communication can help the public discern and avoid misleading information, as well as influence public policy and inspire public interest in scientific research. This workshop will provide tools to help you effectively communicate your research comprehensively to different audiences, from the public to policymakers. Through presentations, collaborative exercises, and expert facilitation, this workshop will cover ideas on oral and written research communication skills, scientific journalism and scientific blogging to promote research and increase audience. Another key focus will be to understand your audience'€™s goals, interests, and concerns.
