Session Description: Soil health is in large part rediscovery of old concepts (e.g. soil tilth and quality), but now receiving renewed attention due to exploding interest in soil biological activity and its sensitivity to management practices. Environmental health is an equally broad topic, including water and air quality, and is undoubtedly altered by soil management. But do soil management practices always have straightforward effects on both soil and environmental health? This is a CrossDiv between SEQ, SBB, and NMSPA, Soil and Water Conservation, Soil Fertility and Plant Nutrition. We are submitting two symposium proposals because we expect there to be a large audience. Potential Speakers include: Andrea Basche at UNL, Bianca Moebius-Clune at USDA-NRCS, Paul Tracy at Soil Health Institute, Erich Seamon University of Idaho, Jennifer Moore-Kucera at American Farmland Trust, Mike Lehman at ARS - Dakota, Kristen Veum at ARS-Missouri, Debra Bossio at TNC, LaKisha Odom at FFAR, Maria Bowman at Soil Health Partnership, Laura Lengnick at Cultivating Resilience, LLC. We will try to get sponsorship from SHI and FFAR, FLT.
