Session Description: This cross divisional symposium will illustrate the many contributions from Dr. Wilding to soil science including the advancement of pedology and related sciences, SSSA leadership, international soil science development, and the life-long teaching and mentoring of students and colleagues. Larry walked the earth with incredible generosity, energy, and love for others providing an inspiration to soils colleagues throughout the world. His ideas spread through his students and colleagues in a range of directions including applications of soil micromorphology and phytoliths, wetland and subaqueous soils, carbonates in soils, paleosols, spatial variability, hydropedology, water flow in structured soils/Vertisols, Soil Taxonomy, and soil minerals on earth and in Lunar and Martian soils.
