Session Description: Soil surveys and land use interpretations are well developed in most upland environments, however, they remain incomplete, substandard, or nonexistent in many coastal and subaqueous landscapes. The soil science perspective offers a well-developed and scientific approach that can be implemented for the use of land management practices, including shellfish aquaculture, blue carbon sequestration, habitat restoration, dredging and dredge material deposition, storm surge protection, and thin layer deposition, to name just a few. In this interdisciplinary session we invite contributions from soil scientists and aquatic scientists that highlight recent work and ongoing research needs in coastal and subaqueous soils and sediments.
