Session Description: Permafrost zone soils contain 1330-1580 Pg of organic carbon, and are vulnerable to thaw under projected warming. Permafrost thaw may have broad implications for local to global ecosystems, yet many uncertainties exist regarding the scale of feedbacks to global change and the mechanisms controlling them.
