Session Description: Mineral weathering exerts long-term control on ecosystem establishment and evolution via the supply of rock-derived nutrients that influence primary productivity and soil organic matter turnover. This session plans to bring together earth and ecosystem scientists to share recent discoveries and advances in mineral weathering from micron to global scales that span the shallow to deep critical zone along contrasting gradients of climate, lithology, vegetation structure, and time.
