Session Description: With more than 1200 participants, the Global Soil Biodiversity Initiative (GSBI) is connecting the latest soil biodiversity science with policy groups, including the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). A key goal for GSBI and these partners is a global assessment of soil biodiversity. This session will explore soil biodiversity, emerging techniques for studying specific taxa, and ways to integrate data. Attendees of the session will also be able to discuss how scientists can engage in a global assessment process for belowground diversity.
