Format: Oral Topical Session
Keywords: climate change, plant nutrient uptake, soil health and sustainable management
Session Description: Land management practices such as conservation tillage, cover cropping, and organic amendment application have been adapted to increase soil health and sustainability. However, the outcome of management practices that influence the relationships between soil properties, microbiome, and root health remains inadequately addressed, although such understanding is needed to develop goals of improving plant nutrient uptake and food nutritional quality. The mechanisms of plant nutrient uptake from the soil, the influences of soil properties and soil microbiome on nutrient availability and uptake, as well as the impact of management practices and climate change on soil-plant-microbiome relationships will be presented and discussed.
