Format: Poster Topical Session
Keywords: soil functions, soil properties and visible near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS)

Session Description: Visible near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) is a fast and cost-effective alternative to conventional analysis of soil properties. Recently, the spectrum of NIRS possibilities is broadening towards assessment of soil functional and advanced properties including specific surface area, water retention, water repellency, and water and solute transport. We call for presentations showing NIRS possibilities and progress, and illustrating the perspectives of NIRS for laboratory and in-situ measurements, and the characterization and classification of soil in respect to basic and functional properties. This includes NIRS research and applications within precision agriculture, pedology, soil health monitoring, soil management, and environmental protection.
